Be inspired with our top 5 lighting trends that are set to shine in 2025!
In 2024, we saw minimalist design make a comeback, along with architectural statement pieces at the other end of the spectrum, as well as nostalgic retro designs and eco-friendly materials. This year, we expect lighting trends to follow some of these styles, with a few “old is new again” tweaks added in!
Sustainable Designs and Materials
As we saw the last few years, sustainability in lighting is not new, and is only going to continue growing traction, so will be on the list of top lighting trends for a while yet.
While energy efficient LED lighting will continue to break new ground in terms of scope and design, in 2025, we expect to see a real leaning toward the use of sustainable organic materials. Think natural elements like linen, cotton, and a particular focus on rattan. Use of organic materials tends to produce a softer more intimate setting, and accompanied with a trend toward more organic shapes and colour tones, 2025 is set to produce an understated natural elegance when it comes to lighting trends.
And, it’s not only sustainable materials, eco-friendly practices will influence lighting design, and ultimately, our lighting choices. Lighting is not immune to the focus of consumers on sustainably sourced and produced materials.

Vintage Inspired Lighting Trends
In 2024, we talked about retro lighting designs, with a contemporary twist of course, making a comeback. In 2025, lighting will take this one step further with vintage-inspired pieces set to add personality and a touch of uniqueness to lighting design.
This vintage feel will be brought into lighting in a few different ways. Textural and tactile lighting that gives that hand-made feel and appearance will make it’s mark this year, along with classic finishes like bronze. Types of lighting will also reflect classic vintage pieces. Wall sconces, for instance, are set to have a strong presence in lighting plans and design this year.

Vintage also encompasses the truly vintage, recycled pieces brought up to date with modern technology, which also supports that further shift toward sustainability in lighting. It’s the epitome of that “everything old is new again” we touched on earlier in this post.
Timeless Luxury Lighting Trends
Almost vintage, but not quite! It’s also not so much a trend, as a style that will see you through the trends! Think classic designs like traditional pendant lights, wall lights, chandeliers, and even lamps, that are characterised by simple designs adorned with intricate details. In 2025, these classic pieces will be been given contemporary touches, without losing their ability to compliment almost any décor, and so, stand the test of time as all classic pieces do.
We see elements of timeless design all the time in lighting, gorgeous brass finishes, contemporary finishes blended into old school styles, and intricate chandelier style details added to sleek clean LED lines.
And, it’s not only design, so much of what we see in lighting is based on classic style blending with modern functionalities. LED technology has allowed much of this blending.
It is interesting to see that yet another expected trend in 2025 supports the sustainability of lighting, both in terms of style and functionality, and we expect to feature more and more with each passing year.

Lighting as Art
Modern lighting designs so often act as a decorative element within a space. Think statement pendant lighting, or even chandeliers. We expect this to continue through 2025 with sculptural designs, shapes, and textures creating their own architectural statement.
Far from contradicting more organic and subtle forms of lighting, these lighting as art pieces will blend organic materials and shapes into sculptural forms of lighting perfect to serve as statement pieces, and act as the centrepiece of a room.
Smart Lighting Trends
While not in itself a design trend, we would be remiss not to mention smart lighting options as one of the expanding trends again in 2025, and beyond as technology continues to advance.
The ever increasing shift toward smart lighting has only increased as the demands on our homes increase. Our living rooms need to be able to switch from workspace to a wind down haven at the end of the day; our kitchens have for a long time been more than just our cooking spaces, they are a place to gather; and our bedrooms too need to be functional as well as a place to escape the day. Smart lighting allows for these changes at the touch of a button, or more appropriately, via a simple command.
And not to labour the point, but once again, we see a trend that through energy saving technology, supports that important push toward eco-friendly sustainable lighting.
